Purpose

Transitional Safeguarding is an area of work that the GM Complex Safeguarding Hub is currently pioneering alongside the work of the 10 local authorities. It is inscribed in the GMCSH’s Strategy as a priority, and is an area requiring senior leadership coordination and dedicated commitment. The aim to embed transitional safeguarding is to ensure no child’s support from services drops off at the time they turn 18.

This all-day workshop on June 17th will bring together senior leaders, transitional safeguarding advocates and will be facilitated by Dez Holmes, national leader in transitional safeguarding who has carried out a wealth of research and work in this area. There will be productive discussions, with actions taken away on how we can further implement and progress the transitional safeguarding initiative across Greater Manchester.

Decision

GMCA Complex Safeguarding wishes to pay £2,180 from the Complex Safeguarding Budget to the National Children’s Bureau to host Dez Holmes, Director of the NCB to input at our Transitional Safeguarding Leadership Event on June 17th 2026.
