Purpose

The training session in the Tootal Building, Manchester on the 15th April will focus on supporting women with no recourse to public funds and those with ill defined immigration status. It will cover what frontline practitioners can and cannot advise, alongside the appropriate referral pathways.

The training will introduce the Migrant Victims of Domestic Abuse Concession (MVDAC)—a Home Office policy offering a 3 month visa to address the immediate needs of some migrant victims with NRPF.

What the Session Will Cover
• Why it is important to learn about the MVDAC for your work
• Understanding what the MVDAC is and why it exists
• What the eligibility criteria is, including who can and cannot apply, to the MVDAC
• How children can be affected by the MVDAC
• What are the benefits and risks to applying, including understanding the two-pathways
• Understanding how you as non-legal professionals can support migrant victims and your legal limits
• What resources you could consult to develop your understanding further

Decision

A payment of £2000 is approved to reimburse the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit (GMIAU) as they have provided payment to Rights of Women who will deliver a specialist training session in the Tootal Building on the 15th April 2026. This 2-hour long session is specifically designed for 40 IDVAs, DA Coordinators, and DA practitioners across Greater Manchester.
