Purpose

This is due to the recent local elections in May 2026 and consequently the changes to the political make-up of Stockport Council as well as changes to the leadership of the political groups represented in the Council. The MDC Constitution states that the Board must include the leaders of each of the three largest political groups in the Council so therefore the changes requested are in reflection of this.

Decision

1. Under Article 6.12.4
   To terminate the appointments of the following members of the MDC Boards:
   • Councillor Christine Carrigan, former Leader of the Labour Group;
   • Councillor Matt Wynne, former Leader of Stockport Community Association.
   2. Under Article 6.6
   In consultation with the Leader of the Council:
   • To appoint Councillor Rachel Wise as a member of the MDC Boards in her capacity as Leader of the Labour Group;
   • In light of the elections results:
   o Green Party (4)
   o Stockport Community Association (4)
   To note that the Green Party has been the longest standing Group on the Council and therefore appoint Councillor Liz Crix as the third member of the MDC Boards in her capacity as Leader of the Green Party until May 2026.
