Full council record
Purpose
The GM Complex Safeguarding Hub are holding a conference on online harms, in partnership with GMFRS who are providing the venue and will promote this event as part of the Takeover 2026 that focuses on safeguarding. This conference will be co-designed and co-produced by young people from the Reign Collective, who have lived experience of online harms.
The conference support the GM Complex Safeguarding strategy in that it is helping to support partners and local areas to develop their complex safeguarding policy in a well-informed, robust way. We know the value lived experience can bring, especially in the online space which is still misunderstood by many professionals. The workshops have totalled to 6 so far with work still ongoing. The first two have been paid for, requiring a further £1,000 for the remaining 4 at £250 a session.
Decision
GMCA Complex Safeguarding wishes to pay a further £1,000 from the Complex Safeguarding Budget to the Reign Collective, for their involvement in the codesigning and coproduction of our Online Harms Conference, as part of the GMFRS Takeover 2026.
