Purpose

The VRU (at the request of the previous Mayor & current Deputy Mayor) are collaborating with Leanne Lucas- founder of Let’s Be Blunt campaign- to deliver a GM wide awareness of safe knife disposal, ‘swap out’ schemes and education amongst children and professionals. Leanne has minimal support and resource as her campaign develops (started 2025), and so this budget would allow GM to collaborate with Leanne and develop messaging and GM specific promotional material.

The allocation covers the design, print, and ‘wrapping’ of 11 knife surrender bins being located across GM- (purchase of these approved via a separate DN / exemption), alongside other comms materials including banners for websites, social media graphics and downloadable posters.

As above, please note that this decision replaces a previously signed DN 'Allocation of Comms budget to support ‘Let’s Be Blunt’ campaign' which was an incorrect lower value.
