Purpose

The GMCA is the legal body responsible for the appointment and administration of Legally Qualified Chairs and Independent Panel Members to sit on Police Misconduct Hearings.

This scheme is operated regionally, in collaboration with Cheshire PCC, Merseyside PCC, Cumbria PCC, and Lancashire PCC. As a region we are obliged to provide training for panel members, and this contribution accounts for the attendance of North West regional panel members attending training in the South East.

This provided an opportunity to train our panel members and receive feedback on what effective training looks like, allowing us to better tailor ours going forward.

Decision

Funding of £1177.91 be provided to Cumbria OPCC as Greater Manchester’s contribution toward training costs for legally qualified chairs and independent panel members who sit on police misconduct panels.
