Purpose
TOTAL RECALL has been developed following a legislative theatre event held in December 2025 and co-created with men with lived experience of the criminal justice system. The activity identified a need to explore existing provision and good practice that can help prevent prison recall and to develop a resource for people within probation services and those who work with them.
The project will use creative listening and co-creation to capture a range of perspectives on prison recall. It will engage people who have experienced recall, people who have completed their licence without recall, and criminal justice practitioners with experience of the recall process.
The funded activity will deliver six creative listening and co-creation workshops, a minimum of 26 high-quality video vox pops, dedicated TikTok and Instagram channels, a community showcase in Hulme and work to secure broadcasting opportunities through Prison Radio Association and Way Out Television. The findings will also inform co-created “Top Tips” videos for people on licence and probation workers.
Decision
Grant funding of £8,500 from the Violence Reduction Unit Communications Budget is awarded to Odd Arts for delivery of the TOTAL RECALL project between November 2026 and March 2027.
