Agreed the recommendations to
allocate funds for the 2026 Royal Greenwich Festivals to 7
organisations for the delivery of the borough’s events and
festivals programme between 01 June and 30 September 2026 to the
organisations listed in paragraph 4.12.
 
Noted that the total costs of
£144,980 are being met from the Arts & Culture Royal
Greenwich Festivals budget of £144,000 and an additional
£980.00 from unspent reserves.
 
Noted the successful
organisations will be responsible for delivering a range of
cultural events and festivals, providing all the associated
delivery services including cultural programming and
marketing.
 
Noted the Council’s
Cabinet on the 24th of July 2024 approved the borough's first
written Culture Strategy that complements the vision and missions
of Our Greenwich to enable the Council to respond to the needs of
the cultural sector and our communities by providing free cultural
activity.
 
Noted, the Royal Greenwich
Festivals is the Council's flagship event and festival grant
programme that supports the provision of large and mid-range events
and festival activities across the borough. 
 
Noted that for 2026, the
council was seeking to invest in projects that actively involve
young people as makers, performers, producers and
audiences, that celebrates the borough’s diversity and
gives young people the opportunity to learn, connect.
 
Noted this theme supports our
Cultural Impact Award programme, a Mayor of London initiative,
which will be co-created with local young people, culminating in
three, spectacular, free public events for residents and visitors
to enjoy in 2026 and 2027.
