Appointment of "Art By Roo" to design and
deliver street art in an agreed location in Guildford town
centre.

Reasons for the decision

The proposed commission is for the design and
delivery of street art on Council-owned land in the town centre.
The identified location is a known graffiti hot-spot and it is
hoped that this art work will improve public realm and deter future
graffiti.

Alternative options considered

The Council could decide not to progress with
this appointment. However, the proposed commission will help to
deal with an existing graffiti problem within the town centre and
it ties in with the upcoming Guildford Festival of the Arts.
