To confirm that the Executive Head of Service
and Lead Councillor have reviewed and approved documents relating
to Museum Accreditation including the Forward Plan 2023-2025 and
associated Action Plan.

Reasons for the decision

A requirement of Museum Accreditation -
assessed by Arts Council England - is that documents included for
accreditation be approved through a governance process.

Alternative options considered

Not reapplying for accreditation: this would
mean that the Museum cannot demonstrate it meets the required
standards in relation to how it's run, how the collection is
managed and how users are engaged with.

Submitting a previously approved Forward Plan: the previous plan
(written in 2020) was at a time when the Service was embarking on
an ambitious £18 million project to redevelop the Museum. It
showed huge ambition and change for the Service. The project is no
longer going ahead, so the Forward Plan is not relevant.
