To create a Joint Climate and Sustainability
Manager post, with costs shared 50/50 with Waverley Borough
Council.

Reasons for the decision

In accordance with the agreed case to
collaborate, to create a Joint Climate and Sustainability Manager
post. This completes the previously scoped and agreed restructure
of the Strategy and Corporate Services service that was paused late
in 2024.

Alternative options considered

Option 1 Do nothing: not viable. The
continuation of the status quo will exacerbate management capacity
and staffing issues.
Option 2 Do minimum: create the Joint Sustainability Manager post
(recommended).
Option 3 Do maximum: create a fully joint team.
At present this is not proposed due to capacity constraints.
However, once the post is created and a person in post, the
viability and business case of establishing a joint Sustainability
Team will be explored.
