Surrey County Council (SCC) is the Responsible
Authority (lead body) producing the statutory Surrey Local Nature
Recovery Strategy (LNRS). Guildford Borough Council is a
“Supporting Authority”. In accordance with regulations,
SCC has consulted with the supporting authorities on the draft LNRS
regarding whether it should proceed to a public consultation.
Supporting Authorities must decide whether to support proceeding to
public consultation, support with objections to some element of the
LNRS, or object to the LNRS proceeding to public consultation. The
decision is to submit a response in support.
Reasons for the decision
Officers have reviewed the LNRS and cannot see
any reason why the LNRS should not proceed to public consultation
and therefore support the proposal.
Alternative options considered
The alternative options, set by legislation,
were:
- Object to the Local Nature Recovery Strategy proceeding to public
consultation
- Object to the Local Nature Recovery Strategy but agree it can
proceed to public consultation.
