To enter into a contract for:
Minor Engineering Works to include footways, headwall and grille
repairs, flood prevention/alleviation investigations and car park
resurfacing.
Contract Title: T J Hunt New Minor Works Contract
Route to Market: Waiver, TJ Hunt were narrowly placed second when
the competition took place in 2022 for the works. The contract
winners defaulted since January and left the Council in a
vulnerable situation.
Contract Value: £195,000 + VAT
Contract start Date: As soon as it is signed
Contract End Date: 31st March 2026

Reasons for the decision

The decision was taken due to the worsening
condition of the Council’s assets relevant to this contract
and the lack of performance by the appointed contractor since
January 2025. This left the Council without means to undertake
these works which are becoming more critical as time passes. This
contract was created in order to carryout essential backlog works
before the procurement of a future framework to enable essential
works going forward from April 2026.

Alternative options considered

The decision meets the statutory and Health
and Safety requirements for the Council and there were no
alternative options available.
