Chewing gum litter
Funding helps GBC tackle the
sticky issue of chewing gum litter
We have secured grant funding
from the Chewing Gum Task Force to clean up chewing gum and reduce
gum littering in Guildford.
We’re one of 52 councils
across the country to have received a grant, which is being used to
fund street cleaning programmes. The focus will be on chewing gum
hotspots in the centre of town, particularly North Street, around
the bus station and by the rotunda. In the next couple of days you
will see signage cropping up on our bins and pavements to encourage
people to dispose of their gum responsibly and to help prevent
littering.
Find more on our website about this clean-up project which is
helping us to make Guildford a clean and welcoming place for
everyone.
Heritage Open Days
Celebrate Guildford's culture,
community and hidden history.
Visitors can explore
Guildford's history and culture through an exciting programme of
Heritage Open Days events this month. Venues across the borough
will host free activities for all the family from Friday 12 to
Sunday 21 September.
Guildford’s programme
includes a diverse range of heritage experiences from vintage bus
rides, church events across the borough, milestone anniversaries
for the railway and the Women’s Institute. Many buildings not
usually open to the public can also be visited.

programme of events in Guildford, visit the Heritage Open Days
website or

Community Governance Review for Guildford Town
A Community Governance Review
began last month for the ten wards in the unparished urban area of
Guildford. Residents and stakeholders are being consulted on three
options, or they can put forward an alternative
proposal.
Residents and businesses have
until 28 September to respond to the survey.
You can find out more about the review on our website by searching
for ‘CGR Guildford’.
Guildford Lido year-round opening
From 1 October 2025,
Guildford's iconic 1930s outdoor pool will be welcoming swimmers to
take the plunge all year round. Traditionally, the Lido has only

Guildford.
Instead of closing on 15
September, the Lido will now extend its summer timetable until 30
September 2025. From 1 October, the Lido moves into its new winter
programme.
Enquiries are now open on the
Guildford Lido website if you would like to buy membership. There
are Early Bird Offers for those registering before 15 September
2025.
More information on this exciting change to the swimming
programme is available on the Guildford Lido
website.
