Following a detailed feasibility process in
which 4 suppliers submitted quotations for pool covers at Guildford
Lido, Plastica Pools won both on suitability and price. The Council
therefore wishes to enter into contract with Plastica pools to
supply and install 3 no. pool covers at Guildford Lido. Funding has
also been secured for this project at a value of £145,000.
The installation of the pool covers (including a 10 year service
contract) has been quoted at just over £101,000.

Reasons for the decision

By installing pool covers at the Guildford
Lido, the utility consumption at the site (to heat the pool) will
be significantly reduced. Water consumption and chemical use will
also be reduced as a result. Not only will this save money and
contribute to environmental targets, it also enables the Operator
to open the facility all-year-round , thus providing an enhanced
service to residents.
