Full council record

The Leader made the following
announcements:
Following the first stage of
consultation on the Community Governance Review for the unparished
urban area of Guildford, the Council had agreed to proceed to the
second stage of consultation, which was launched on Tuesday 6
January.
There are currently ten wards
in central Guildford that are not represented by a parish or town
council. We’re proposing the creation of a new parish
council, so that residents across central Guildford have elected
parish councillors making decisions about local, parish-level
services.
The consultation is available
online and households in the currently unparished area will receive
a booklet next week through the post. This will outline the draft
proposals and ask residents to share their views. We’re
hosting an online event on Wednesday 4 February at 7.30pm and also
planning a couple of pop-up events where residents can find out
more.
More information is on our
website. Searching for ‘Community Governance Review stage
2’.
We’re installing new,
user-friendly parking technology in our town centre car parks this
month. The work began yesterday at the Tunsgate Car Park, which is
the first to have new payment machines installed. The machines will
make it quicker and easier for drivers to pay for their parking.
There’ll be card, contactless, cash and app payments
available and no need for visitors to use paper tickets. The new
technology will be installed in 18 car parks around Guildford and
the work will take a few weeks to complete.
One of our council’s key
priorities is to make Guildford a more prosperous borough. Projects
like this, which make parking easier for residents and visitors,
support our economy and encourage more people to come into our
beautiful town.
