Content
To create a Joint Facilities Manager post
shared across Guildford and Waverley Borough Councils.
The proposal puts in place a permanent shared arrangement of a
single Facilities Manager working across Guildford and Waverley, an
arrangement that delivers budget savings and improved service
outcomes for both councils
Reasons for the decision
To transition to a sustainable delivery model
that improves our resilience to deliver facilities management
services across both councils and safeguards more effectively our
critical health and safety and strategic objectives whilst
delivering budget savings and improved outcomes.
Alternative options considered
Option 1 Do nothing: not viable. Resource
pressures will create significant service challenges and are not
sustainable and would require the re-creation of the deleted
Facilities Manager post at Waverley.
Option 2 Do minimum: create the Joint Facilities Manager post
(recommended).
Option 3 Do maximum: create a fully joint team.
At present Option 3 is not viable due to the capacity and time
constraints within the service as well as the administrative
services that would be involved in making such a transition. This
can be re-considered once the post is filled.
Recommendation
Option 2: To create a Joint Facilities Manager post, shared across
Guildford and Waverley.
Doing so will deliver budget savings and improved outcomes to both
councils.
