Decision
Procurement of a WiFi survey to support the efficient placement of wireless access points at the new Weyside Depot site.
Reasons for the decision
The new Weyside Depot site is being commissioned and needs wireless access for Council use. Efficient wireless access point placement should help reduce the amount of hardware needed, whilst ensuring good wireless access coverage throughout targeted areas.
A WiFi survey will help identify the likely most efficient wireless access point locations.
Alternative options considered
With the building being empty currently, many items that may impact wireless signal are not in-place. It was therefore not considered value for money to do an on-site survey. A more simple desktop survey was therefore considered best value for money to support the timeline of the project.
