Under freehold title SY322036 the Council owns the land containing
Phoenix Court and the rear parts of Units 5 & 6 within White
Lion Walk.

The Council granted a 198-year lease of Friary Street East to
ReAssure Ltd. on 24th January 2008. This lease comprises both the
shops and restaurants on the eastern side Friary St as well as the
areas held under SY322036.

ReAssure Ltd. has granted an underlease to Redevco UK 1 BV for the
rear parts of Unit 5 & 6 White Lion Walk as Redevco is the
owner of White Lion Walk shopping centre.

Under the head lease the permitted use is as shops or restaurants
only. Redevco is seeking the Council’s consent for use of 5
& 6 White Lion Walk as a gym to facilitate a letting to Anytime
Fitness.

This decision is to consent to this change of use which will be
documented with a formal license document between the
parties.

We do not believe that use of these shops as a gym will have a
detrimental impact on the retail offering of the Town Centre due to
the number of vacant units on the High St and within White Lion
Walk, and will allow these shops to be brought back into active
use.

If you have any queries, then please contact George Musgrave who
can provide further information.
