The purchase of five new fleet vehicles for
the Community Meals service will enable greater access to transport
services; this will be secondary to achieving vital support through
community meals.
The new service delivery model allows the Community Services team
to continue supporting our most vulnerable in the borough whilst
working in partnership as a council with other strategic and
statutory services to support people living well and independently
in the borough of Guildford.
This solution is the most cost-effective over the proposed 7-year
period that the service intends to use the vehicles for. By
purchasing standard vehicles instead of specially adapted vehicles
that are currently in use, we are able to build up the resilience
of the service to support and safeguard our most vulnerable
people.
This enables continued commitment to our corporate ambition of
supporting our most vulnerable people, as well as the continued
partnership working with adult social care and the NHS to help
people live well for longer.
