Purpose of
Cabinet
The Cabinet is made up of the Elected Mayor
and between two and nine Councillors appointed by the Elected
Mayor.
The Mayor and Cabinet are responsible for
taking key decisions within the policy and budgetary framework
which is set by Full Council. This includes budget preparation,
Council plans and policies, as well as their implementation and
monitoring.
Cabinet responsibilities are defined in
legislation and also includes other functions that Full Council has
decided it should be responsible for.
The Cabinet meets in public, normally on the
fourth Monday of each month (except August). Notice of decisions to
be taken by the Cabinet are listed on the Council’s
Forward Plan
