REASONS FOR DECISION
 
The Chair of Governors at Betty Layward School has written in support of the
nomination and confirmed that it is supported by the governors.
 
Sally has a strong background in leadership,
through prior experience in management working within educational
settings. Her ability to make strategic decisions and oversee our
organisational goals will significantly contribute to the
effectiveness of the governing body.
 
Sally’s experience working with
children, in educational, community and professional settings, has
equipped her with a strong understanding of the challenges and
opportunities within primary education. This allows her to offer
insights that align with the school's mission and the needs of the
pupils.
 
Sally demonstrates strategic thinking in her
current role as Vice Chair of our Governing Board, helping to
develop long-term plans that align with the school’s
overarching goals. She has demonstrated commitment to promoting
inclusivity and equality, ensuring that all students, regardless of
background, have access to high-quality education. This approach
will help enrich the Board’s decision-making process by
ensuring that the needs of all pupils are considered. In
conclusion, Sally’s skills in leadership and communication,
combined with her experience in education, strategic thinking, and
commitment to school improvement, make her an excellent candidate
for becoming a local authority governor. Her dedication to
inclusivity will further contribute to the Board's goal of
providing high-quality education for all pupils at the school

governors.
 
Karen Stuart was Chair of the Governing Body
at Baden Powell Primary school until it closed summer 2024. During
this time, she was also Parent Governor at The Urswick School and has recently been elected Vice
Chair of the Governing Body at The Urswick School.
