Purpose

Following the Cabinet Paper from the 23rd March 2026 approving the use of Hackney's Crisis and Resilience Fund allocation. We are returning to Cabinet to update members on measures to support the transition to new arrangements and help ensure low-income residents, including those requiring culturally specific foods like Kosher and Halal, have access to affordable, nutritious food year-round, and especially at holiday times.

Decision

RESOLVED:

The findings of engagement with families affected and the update on how Council delivery will aim to respond to this, were noted.

Reasons for decision

On 23rd March 2026, Cabinet resolved that an update on measures to support, or mitigate the impact of, the transition to new arrangements under the Crisis and Resilience Fund would be provided. This report provides that update.

This report sets out plans to mitigate the impact of the transition to the new arrangements under Hackney’s Crisis and Resilience Fund. The plans adhere to the grant guidelines from the Department of Work and Pensions.

This work supports the Administration's commitment to address the drivers of Poverty and Inequality and is informed by the Council’s Policy Reduction Framework.
