This is an application made by two members of
the public (‘The Applicant’) in 2021 under Section 53
of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, to record a number of
public footpaths in Lords Wood, an area of woodland situated to the
west of properties in Hadrian Way, and south of the M27 motorway,
in the parish of Chilworth. The application is supported by user
evidence which, in the applicant’s view, demonstrates that
public rights of way should be recorded, based on long-term use of
the application routes.
Having considered the evidence submitted with the application and
additional historic documentary evidence in the context of the
relevant statutory framework, it is considered that the application
route should not be added to the Definitive Map, and that the
application should be refused.
