To authorise the dedication of public footpath
rights by Hampshire County Council over the route shown running
between A-B on the plan at Appendix 1.
The dedication of this footpath would provide a right of access
over part of a disused railway line that is owned by Hampshire
County Council and managed by the Council’s Countryside
Access Team and will resolve an outstanding application for a
Definitive Map Modification Order to record the same route.
Footpath rights along this route would be secured through a deed of
dedication, pursuant to powers set out in Section 1 of the Localism
Act 2011, which enables the Council to do anything which an
individual can do.
The footpath would extend in a broadly southwards direction,
between points A and B, as shown on the attached plan. It would be
a ‘there and back’ route, along the line of the former
railway and within the railway cutting. There remains the option
for future connections to be made to the wider rights of way
network.
The footpath to be dedicated would have a length of approximately
925m and the width of the route to be dedicated is 3 metres.
