Hampshire County Council (‘the Council’) is the Commons Registration Authority (‘CRA’) for the purpose of exercising functions under the Commons Act 2006 (‘the 2006 Act’). An application (VG264) has been made by Popham Parish Meeting under Section 15(8) Commons Act 2006 for the voluntary registration of land at Popham Pond, in the parish of Popham (‘the application land’) as a town or village green. The applicant is the freeholder of the land, and the CRA is therefore required to grant the application provided other conditions are met. Those conditions have been met in this instance, and so it follows that the application must be accepted. 2. The voluntary application follows the earlier submission of an application from the same applicant to register the application land under Section 15(2) of the 2006 Act, on the basis that the land had been used for lawful sports and pastimes, as of right, for a period of at least twenty years. This application received objections when it was advertised, and in the intervening period the land has been purchased by Popham Parish Meeting. It has therefore been agreed that, in light of the application for voluntary registration, that this application should be withdrawn.
