Decision

RESOLVED that:

A     The council note the receipt of an offer from the Canons Brook Golf Club Ltd. in the sum of £560,000 to acquire the freehold interest in 1&2 Canons Cottages.

B     The council agree to accept that offer and execute the legal documentation required to complete the disposal of those assets.

Reasons for the decision

To facilitate inward investment from the private sector aligned with a resolution from Cabinet dated 09 October 2026.

To release an underperforming asset that might otherwise give rise to future cost liabilities.

To generate a capital receipt that will support the council’s financial resilience.

Alternative options considered

The option of renewing the Golf Club’s existing lease and retaining the Properties within the council’s investment portfolio has been considered but is not recommended.

The Properties do not align well with the council’s retained portfolio, would be likely to require future capital investment and repair expenditure, and would not generate the immediate capital receipt needed to support the council’s Medium Term Financial Plan.
