Decision

RESOLVED that
Cabinet:

i)
Noted the work
undertaken since April 2025 in relation to the engagement,
exploration of funding, and alternative options for delivery of a
bus service from Potters Bar to Barnet;

ii)
Noted the
proposed arrangements for a new bus service to run from September,
which had been secured following discussions between the Cabinet
member for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, the County
Council and Uno buses to secure the continuation of a Potters Bar
to Barnet route on a permanent basis and at no further cost to the
Council.

iii)
Provided an
update to Full Council on the work undertaken to secure this
important public transport link (infrastructure) that supports the
development of the borough for the future.

Reasons for
decision

Since its inception in September 2023, the 84B
bus route had provided a key service for local residents, including
young persons under 19 and elderly people, without access to their
own car, to more easily and affordably attend Barnet town and more
notably Barnet Hospital. Details of the patronage and income
generated could be found in updates provided to Cabinet on the 11
September 2024 (CAB/24/44) and 2 April 2025 (CAB/25/22).

The report to Cabinet in April included a
confidential appendix. The reason for confidentiality was the
commercially sensitive nature of the discussions concerning a new
provider. Now that the discussions had concluded and a future for
the bus route from Potters Bar to Barnet has been secured this
report recommended providing an update to Full Council.

Alternative Options
Considered

The report provided an update on the work
undertaken to secure the future of a bus route from Potters Bar to
Barnet. There was no need to consider alternative options in these
circumstances.
