RESOLVED that Cabinet noted
the Council’s response to the General Equality Duty
2024/25.
 
Reasons for
decision
 
To ensure that Cabinet is aware of the
Council’s activity during 2024/25 which has contributed to
achieving the Council’s Equality Objectives.
 
Alternative Options
Considered

The Council could choose not to
publish its annual response to the Public Sector Equality Duty, but
as this is a statutory requirement, this would risk significant
legal and reputational consequences. This could include judicial
review and potential court orders to ensure compliance. Beyond
this, failing to meet the Public Sector Equality Duty can damage a
public body’s reputation and undermine it’s ability to
serve the public.
