Traffic Management Contract
June 13, 2025 Director of Communities (paul.anderson@horsham.gov.uk) (Officer) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Decision
To approve the award of a contract for traffic management services for a period of six months, extendable for a further period of six months, to the contractor and on the terms outlined in the exempt appendix.
Reasons for the decision
The Council’s previous traffic management contract expired on 31 March 2025. The Council did not wish to extend that contract, for the reasons outlined below.
A procurement exemption has been granted, enabling this contract to be entered into for a period of six months as a temporary arrangement whilst the Council undertakes a procurement exercise to secure a longer term solution.
Alternative options considered
The Council had the option to extend the previous traffic management contract for a period of two years but decided against this due to concerns relating to performance and cost.
The Council could decide not to engage any traffic management services until the new contract has been procured but this has been rejected due to the Council’s statutory duty to clear litter from the roadside.
