Following discussion on the motion related to
feeding brighter futures: tackling child poverty through the Free
School Meal extension, Council resolved:

·      
To join in the Government’s mission to tackle child poverty
and break down barriers to opportunity.

·      
To raise awareness and uptake of Free School Meals.

·      
To acknowledge the success of our EDI strategy in creating Equality
Opportunity Areas, and the importance of investing in community
hubs like Meadowbank, which offer financial support, skills and
employment advice, mental health support and help for more complex
issues.

·      
To use our Thriving Communities Fund to work with partners to
increase opportunities for young people and tackle inequalities
across the borough
