Purpose

Ipswich Borough Council is funding the
permanent highway widening to Chantry Park, London Road entrance.
The entrance was temporarily widened to allow large vehicle access
for concerts. The road and footways are now required to be
installed to Suffolk Highways’ specifications to ensure
access to and from Chantry Park is safe for road users and
pedestrians. The improved access will be permanent allowing safe
access for future events.

For speed of delivery and efficiency a
decision has been made to instruct Suffolk County Council in its
capacity as Highways Authority to carry out works on the highway
infrastructure, for which Suffolk County Council has agreed subject
to the recharge to IBC of the costs to complete the widening access
works to Chantry Park for reason of safety.

Suffolk County Council will use its
construction framework as Highways Authority (in line with PCR
Regulations) to procure the works. This project will be funded from
existing Capital Budgets.

Decision

To instruct Suffolk Highways to undertake
permanent Highway improvement works as Highway Authority using SCC
construction framework (in line with PCR Regs).

Reason:
To enable the permanent highway access
widening to be completed for highway safety.
