Purpose

Ipswich Borough Council is currently preparing
to deliver a new roundabout as part of the Eastern Gateway
development, under phase 2c. An Openreach major fibre optic cable
has been identified and requires diverting to enable the roundabout
construction.
 
A full detailed survey has been carried out by
Openreach, the estimated cost to reroute the existing
infrastructure is £341,073.66 (899256/KJ/C4).
 
There are sufficient funds available within
existing agreed capital budgets.
 
A decision has therefore been made to agree a
Variation with the existing groundworks contractor for the
roundabout construction, to include the works for Openreach.

Decision

To vary the contract with the existing main
works contract.
 
Reason:
To enable delivery of the Phase 2c
Infrastructure (roundabout) at Eastern Gateway and to progress the
Openreach works.
