Purpose

The Council employed Ridge LLP to survey all
of the Council’s sheltered housing sites and homeless family
accommodation as well as a sample of 3 and 4 storey general needs
flat blocks. A total of 29 buildings were inspected.
 
This has resulted in a recommendation for an
intrusive roof survey of a Sheltered Housing Scheme, as a
precautionary measure.
 
The Council considers the survey urgent to
enable confirmation that the roof structure remains safe and wishes
to complete the work within the recommended two-week timescale.

Decision

To exempt this appointment from Contract
Standing Orders to award a
contract to Ridge LLP, to enable the intrusive
roof survey at a Sheltered Scheme. This exemption is made under
paragraph 3.10.2, as it is a matter of urgency. The total cost of
this award should not exceed £8,500.
 
Reason:
Ridge LLP are
familiar with the building and the survey results. There is an
urgent need to appoint a company to complete the survey within two
weeks.
