Purpose

Ipswich Borough Council operates a 2 for 1
tree planting replacement scheme for any trees planted within its
parks and greenspaces, which are replaced on an annual basis.
 
A tree donation scheme also operates enabling
members of the public to fund a donation tree in memorial of a
loved one or as a gift to a park.
 
A procurement exercise has been undertaken by
the Parks Team with officers from the Council’s Procurement
team for the purchase and supply of donation and grant funded
trees.
 
Three bids were submitted, and a validation
process was carried out by officers from the Council’s Parks
& Procurement teams and the bid submitted by Urban Forestry was
found to demonstrate value for money and quality for the many
individual species required.

Decision

The decision made was to award a contract to
Urban Forestry for the supply of trees. The total value of this
contract is £ 23,429.06 for the purchase and supply of
trees.
 
Reason:
To supply the donation and grant funded
trees.
