Purpose
Environmental Protection require a contractor
to carry out the collection and kennelling of stray dogs within the
borough, to meet the legal duty on the Council under the
Environmental Protection Act 1990 and
Environmental Protection (Stray dogs)
regulations.
A contract has been in place for West End
Rehoming Limited to provide this service since 2019 which expired
on 1st October 2022. The contract has two 12-month extension
periods available upon agreement of both parties, the first of
which has now expired covering the period between 1st October 2022
and 30th September 2023. The second extension covering
the period of 1st October 2023 and 30th September 2024.
The contract extension has been agreed as
existing, with the same pricing schedule as per the revised
schedule during the first extension.
The value of the contract extension is
estimated to be £13,720 a year utilising available budget for
the financial year.
Decision
To extend the contract with West End Rehoming
Limited for a 12-month period.
Reason:
To carry out the collection and kennelling of
stray dogs within the borough, to meet the legal duty on the
Council under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and
Environmental Protection (Stray dogs) regulations.
