OD/23/44 Upper Orwell Street North Car Park - Suspension of 3 bays
August 17, 2023 Officer Decision (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The Council owns
and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including
Upper Orwell Street North Car Park, Upper Barclay Street, Ipswich
IP4 1HU.
The Council has
received a request from Orbis Protect to locate a portacabin
security office in the corner of the car park. A security guard
will be based on site to patrol the vacant former Co-Op store at
46-48 Carr Street, Ipswich.
The office and
accompanying security vehicle will occupy 3 parking bays and will
be on site between Friday the 1st of September 2023 and Saturday
the 30th of September 2023. Orbis Protect will pay for the lost
income of the bays and the relevant suspension fee.
The security office
was in the same location for several weeks previously at the
beginning of this year. Reports of anti-social behaviour in the car
park dramatically reduced while the unit was on site which was
beneficial to our customers.
Decision
To utilise the
powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking
Places) Order 2022 to suspend 3 bays in in Upper Orwell Street
North Car Park between Friday the 1st of September 2023 and
Saturday the 30th September
2023 to accommodate a temporary security guard office.
