Purpose

The Council acts as agent to Suffolk County Council for the provision of paid for on-street parking places within the Borough of Ipswich.  Having obtained the consent of the County Council and following consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Culture & Customers, it has been decided to implement ‘pay and display’ charging at 7 parking bays on Key Street adjacent to the side of 1A Wherry Quay, in force from 8am to 10pm every day.

These parking spaces were previously unregulated and the decision has been made for the prevention and relief of the congestion of traffic and to help ensure that a limited number of spaces for the public are available in this location.

The proposals were the subject of a statutory public consultation and no objections or other representations were received.  As such, the necessary Traffic Regulation Order and Designation Order are now being made in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and associated legislation.

The changes will come into effect on Monday 24th August 2026.
