OD/26/13 Crown Pools Chemical Contract
October 1, 2026 Officer Decision (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Following infrastructure changes associated with the Crown Multi-Storey Car Park build in 2018, delivery access restrictions have significantly limited the supplier market for pool treatment chemicals to Crown Pools. Procurement exercises have failed to secure a viable contracted supplier.
Consultation has been undertaken with procurement, legal service, swimming service management, and potential suppliers. Market engagement confirmed that only one local supplier can currently service the site, making the exemption the most practical option to maintain service delivery.
An exemption has been approved to award the contract to D.E Supplies at a cost of £20,000 per annum for three years starting from April 2027, which provides business continuity and ensures the continued supply of essential chemicals required to maintain safe pool operations while Ipswich Borough Council progress plans for a new Aquatic centre.
Decision
To award the contract to D.E Supplies at a cost of £20,000 per annum for
three years starting from April 2027.
Reason:
To ensure the continued supply of essential chemicals required to maintain safe pool operations.
