Purpose

Ipswich Borough Council has a requirement for
a specialist contractor to maintain the mechanical plant and water
systems associated with the Cornhill Fountain. The tender was
published on Suffolk Sourcing.
 
Following an open procurement process for a
2-year contract (12 months + 12 months), bids were received from
only one contractor. The tender was submitted by Aldous Mechanical
for the sum of £22,996.00 (excl.
VAT) per year, £45,992.00 total. The
cost will be funded from existing allocated revenue maintenance
budgets.

Decision

To award the contract to Aldous Mechanical at
a total value of £45,992.00.
 
Reason:
To enable the fountain to be maintained and
ensure safe operation.
