The Corporate Scrutiny Committee scrutinises the performance and delivery of all council services to ensure corporate and service objectives are met. It reviews decisions made by the Executive, recommending reconsideration if necessary, and examines functions not managed by the Executive, excluding specific areas like planning and licensing.
The committee also scrutinises service performance against the Wales Programme for Improvement. It can assist in policy development through analysis and consultation, question Executive members and officers, and liaise with external organisations. The committee makes reports and recommendations to the Council and Executive, and can call in Executive decisions for review before they are implemented.
