1.1.
Note the representations received in response to the statutory
proposal for
the closure of St Jude and St Paul’s Church of England
Primary School published on 27 February 2025.
1.2
Note the alternative proposals submitted during the representation
period and
officers’ assessments of those proposals, included in
Appendix D.
1.3. Approve the implementation of the statutory proposal and
close St Jude and St Paul’s Church of England Primary school
on 31 August 2025.
1.4. Make the following commitments to mitigate the impact of
closing St Jude and St Paul’s Church of England Primary
School on existing pupils:
• To make available individual advice on
the school admissions process to all families affected, in
order to support all displaced pupils to secure a new school
place. • To work with local headteachers of nearby Islington
schools to provide support to the school and its families. •
To guarantee a place at a ‘good’ or
‘outstanding’ Islington school for all pupils displaced
by the closure. • To guarantee siblings will be kept together
in community schools and will ensure this is resourced
appropriately to meet statutory requirements. • To provide
early dedicated professional support for all pupils with Education,
Health, and Care plans to support all aspects of transition. The
SEND team will work with individual children and their
parents/carers to support their transition, and help them settle
into their new school, including identifying a tailored list of
alternative schools suitable to the child’s needs as set out
in their plans if required. • To offer financial support to
all parents with the cost of purchasing a new uniform for their
children in their new school.
1.5. Approve a one-off reserve in 2025/26 of £1.450m to
manage the costs of the delivery of the School Organisation
Programme.
