The King's Lynn and West Norfolk Biodiversity Task Group is responsible for advising on how the council can conserve and enhance local biodiversity, in line with the Environment Act 2021. It considers recommendations from working groups, explores opportunities for habitat creation and protection on council land, and assesses the feasibility of initiatives like pollinator action plans.
The group works with partners, including Norfolk County Council, and its recommendations on biodiversity enhancements, including budget implications, are presented to the Environment & Community Panel, then to Cabinet and Council for decision. The council has a statutory duty to consider biodiversity and must report on its actions by January 2026.
