Purpose

The report seeks approval to appoint a Chairperson for the Kirkby Town Board and to appoint Councillors to an outside body (namely the Kirkby Town Board).

Decision

1. The Chief Executive in consultation with the Leader of the Council hereby approves:-

(i)                  The appointment of the Chairperson of the Kirkby Town Board as detailed in this report; and,

(ii)       The remuneration of the Chairperson of the Kirkby Town Board as set out at paragraph 4.1.3 of this report.

1. The Assistant Executive Director (Governance and Assets) in consultation with the Leader of the Council hereby approves the appointment of Councillor Tony Brennan (as Regeneration and Economic Development Cabinet Member) and Councillor Jayne Aston (as Resources Cabinet Member) to the Kirkby Town Board.

Alternative options considered

Not appointing to these positions would fail to establish the necessary expertise and prevent the wider establishment of a Kirkby Town Board by 1 April 2024 as required by the relevant Government funding programme.
