Purpose

As of 1 April 2023 the Council is committed to paying Real Living Wage. This offer extends to all staffing under ASC commissioned services delivery. This payment will ensure that all staff involved in the commissioned contract delivery at Alt Bank House are paid to this threshold.

Decision

The Head of Whole Life Commissioning is recommended to:

• Approve the one-off payment to YMCA Together to enable them to pay staff working at night in Alt Bank House homeless hostel Real Living Wage; and

• Allow the Commissioning Manager to make the appropriate financial arrangements to facilitate the payment.

Alternative options considered

To not provide financial assistance to YMCA Together to enable them to pay all their staff Real Living Wage. This option was rejected as it does not align with the Council’s commitment to paying Real Living Wage and will result in an  inequality in renumeration in the sector.
