HMLR Electronic Service
September 21, 2023 Head of Legal Services (Mike Dearing) (Officer) Awaiting outcome View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
· To make an application to HM Land Registry for use of their electronic services instead of paper applications.
· To authorise the use of HMLR e-service which should provide for:
· A faster and more accurate service;
· Lower current postal costs for use of the service;
· Lower fees generally for most services;
· Provide an electronic audit trail to show progress on all applications; and
· Keep personal data more secure by using electronic transfer means than use of post.
Decision
That the Head of Legal Services authorises the making of an application to the HM Land Registry and thereafter the use of HM Land Registry’s electronic service.
Alternative options considered
Officers could choose not to transfer to the HM Land Registry electronic service but this will cause delays with applications and higher application fees. It would also mean that there was a higher risk of personal data being disclosed by continuing the use of paper applications.
