Purpose

This report seeks approval to carry out statutory consultation on the provision of new disabled persons’ parking places and the revocation of redundant disabled persons’ parking places, as listed in Appendices A and C in this report. At locations where the proposals result in objections or representations being received, a further decision report for consideration by the Assistant Director for Parking, Network Management and Fleet will be prepared to determine the way forward.

Decision

  1. To agree the proposals described in this report and shown in Appendix A and Appendix C at a total estimated cost of £21,400 to be delivered by July 2026.
  2. To authorise officers to carry out statutory consultation in April 2026 in accordance with the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 on the proposals set out in recommendation one.
  3. To agree to the implementation of these measures and the making of traffic management orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
  4. To agree that if any material objections or representations resulting from the statutory consultation are received, that they will be considered by way of a separate decision report to the Assistant Director for Parking, Network Management and Fleet before a decision is reached on whether to proceed.
  5. To exercise discretion not to hold a public inquiry pursuant to Regulation 9 of the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996.
