Purpose
Following Cabinet
Member approval to support the England Coast Path on 4 November
2015, Lancashire County Council is working in partnership with
Natural England to secure a walking route around the entire English
coast ('the King Charles III England Coast Path') where it passes
through Lancashire, excluding the Unitary Authority of Blackpool.
Secretary of State approval for the full length of the path from
Silverdale to Pier Head was granted 27 July 2023. Having received
SoS approval it is necessary for LCC to complete the planning and
establishment of the path that passes through
Lancashire. There is an agreement with
Natural England to recover 100% of the cost of county council staff
time and resources involved in the planning, development and
establishment of the coast path, there will be no cost to the
County Council.
The Capital
Sub-Group has approved Approve an accrual of £218,252.50 and
£34,252.50. Total cost of £252,505 for the Planning of
the King Charles III England Coast Path (KCIIIECP), Cleveleys to
Pier Head and Silverdale to Cleveleys, which passes through
Lancashire. External funding has been secured and there will be no
cost to the County Council.
