Full council record
Purpose
The purpose of the proposed shared cycle-way
is to upgrade and improve sustainable transport links and to
support social inclusion.
Street lighting is being installed along the shared cycle-way to
provide in the interest of safety and to make the route more
desirable for all users.
Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 28 February 2025 until
28 March 2025 which included advertising in the local press and
notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were
consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the
consultation documents posted on the council's website.
Following formal consultation one response was received. One of the
points raised indicated that the respondent had only become aware
of the proposal by chance as the notice was not displayed near to
the location of the proposed works. On investigation this has been
confirmed. Although a notice was erected, regrettably it was placed
adjacent to similar proposed works site advertised at the same time
at Mayfield Avenue, not specifically at the Dukes Meadow
location.
Therefore, an additional four-week consultation period was
undertaken between the dates of 18 August 2025 to 14 September 2025
to allow for further responses or comments.
Following the additional consultation period no further responses
were received.
The main points raised in the response to the original consultation
along with Officer comments are outlines in Appendix C.
Content
Peter Bell, Highway Regulation Manager, on
behalf of Matt Townsend, Director of Highways and
Transport, took the decision to approve the plan as set out
