Purpose
The primary purpose of the Speed Limit Order
for the A6070 – M6 Junction 35 (B6601 Leapers Wood (Part)) is
in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. It is to
avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any
other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger
arising. This will be achieved by extending the existing 50mph
Speed Restriction in place on the A6070 to include the circulatory
carriageway of the M6 Junction 35 (part of B6601 Leapers Wood).
This will see the section of highway subject to the extension
having a more logical sequence of changes to the speed limit on all
approaches, as well as a final speed limit in keeping with user
expectations. Ultimately removing this potential confusion by
providing simpler and logical signage will ensure a safer
environment.
The secondary purpose of the Speed Limit Order is to ensure that
the parameters used in the historic design of the scheme are more
closely aligned with the physical speed limits on the A6070 –
M6 Junction 35 (B6601 Leapers Wood (Part)). This will also ensure
that the primary purpose is achieved by again removing potential
confusion.
